About ChatG
ChatG is a free AI chat and assistant built by a small independent team. Here is what it offers, how it works and how it stays free.

Who we are
ChatG is built and run by a small independent team. We are not a large tech company, and we are not connected to any of the companies that make AI models. Our aim is narrow and practical: give anyone a fast, clean place to use AI chat for free, without creating an account, and explain plainly what happens to their data along the way.
We use AI chat every day ourselves, for drafting emails, untangling code, planning trips and making sense of long documents. ChatG is the tool we wanted for those jobs: quick to open, easy to read on a phone, and honest about what it can and can't do.
What ChatG offers
At its heart, ChatG is an AI chat. You write a question or a task in your own words, and the assistant replies in seconds. Around the chat we have added a few things that make it more useful:
- Assistants. Sixteen ready-made roles, such as a writing assistant, a translator, a study tutor or an interview coach, each with its own instructions. You can also create your own.
- A prompt library. Two hundred fill-in-the-blank prompts in ten categories, from writing and study to career and everyday life.
- AI tools. Twelve single-purpose tools, including a summarizer, a paraphraser, a translator and a grammar checker.
- History, search and sharing. Your conversations are saved in your browser, where you can pin, rename, search and export them, or share a read-only copy through a link.
- Guides. Practical articles on writing better prompts, checking AI answers and using AI safely, plus independent guides to well-known AI models.
- 32 languages. The site is translated into 32 languages, and the chat replies in whatever language you write in.
How the chat works
When you send a message, your browser sends it, together with the recent part of the conversation, to our processing service. The service passes the text to an AI language model, and the answer streams back to your screen word by word. We don't disclose which model writes the answers; the model menu in the chat lets you choose the answer style you prefer.
Language models generate text from patterns learned during training. That makes them very good at drafting, explaining, rewording and organizing, but it also means they can state wrong facts with confidence, misread a question or be out of date. Treat answers as a strong first draft, check anything important against reliable sources, and don't use ChatG as a substitute for a doctor, lawyer or financial adviser. Our guide on fact-checking AI answers shows simple ways to do this.
Free, supported by ads
ChatG is free to use. Every visitor gets a daily allowance of free messages, shared between the chat and the AI tools, and the allowance resets every day. Running AI models costs money for every message, and the daily allowance is what lets us keep the service free and fair for everyone while preventing abuse.
The site is paid for by advertising shown around the content: in the page layout, beside articles and in the chat sidebar on larger screens. Ads never appear inside the assistant's answers, and advertisers have no say in what the assistant writes.
Your privacy in brief
Your chat history is stored only in your own browser, on the device you use. We don't keep copies of your conversations on our servers, so if you clear your browser's site data, the history is gone. You can export it at any time and import it on another device.
Messages you send pass through our processing service to generate the answer and are not kept by us beyond short technical logs. If you choose to share a conversation, a read-only copy is stored on our server and anyone with the link can read it; search engines are asked not to index it. The site uses advertising and Google Analytics cookies. All the details are in our Privacy Policy, and the rules of use are in our Terms of Use.
Independence
ChatG is an independent website. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI, Meta, Alibaba, Mistral AI or DeepSeek. Product names such as ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini appear on this site only to describe those third-party products, for example in our model guides and comparisons, and they belong to their respective owners.
