This Privacy Policy explains what information ChatG ("we", "us") collects when you use chatg.org, why we collect it, who processes it and what choices you have. ChatG is designed to work without an account, so we collect as little personal information as we can. If you have questions, write to hello@chatg.org.

Summary

You don't need an account, and we don't ask for your name or email to use the chat.
Your chat history, custom assistants and settings are stored only in your browser on your device.
Messages you send are passed through our AI processing service to generate answers and are not stored by us beyond short technical logs.
Conversations you choose to share are stored on our server and can be read by anyone with the link until they are removed.
The site shows ads through Ezoic Inc. and its partners and uses Google Analytics on every page. Both use cookies.

Information stored in your browser

ChatG saves your conversations, the assistants you create and preferences such as theme and text size in your browser's storage (IndexedDB or local storage). This data stays on your device, and only the messages of the conversation you are using are sent out, as described below. You can delete it with the delete options in the chat or by clearing site data for chatg.org. Blocking this storage stops your history from being saved, and because we have no copy, we cannot restore deleted history.

Messages you send to the chat and tools

When you send a message in the chat or use an AI tool, your browser sends the text of your message, together with the recent part of the conversation and any assistant or tool instructions, to our AI processing service. The service forwards the request to an AI model provider, receives the answer and streams it back to you.

We do not store the content of your conversations beyond short technical logs that we keep for a limited time to operate the service, troubleshoot errors and prevent abuse. We don't use your messages to build advertising profiles, and we don't sell them.

Please do not enter sensitive information such as passwords, payment card numbers, government ID numbers, health records or confidential business data into the chat. Treat anything you type as text that will be processed by third-party systems.

AI processing by third-party model providers

Answers are generated by AI language models operated by third-party providers that our processing service works with. These providers receive the text needed to produce a response. They do not receive your name or email address from us, but anything you type in a message is included in the text they process. Providers handle this data under their own terms and privacy policies, which may include temporary retention for security and abuse monitoring. Depending on the provider, processing may take place in countries other than your own.

Daily limits and abuse prevention

To give each visitor a fair daily allowance of free messages and to stop automated abuse, we derive a hashed identifier from your IP address. We use this identifier to count messages and share links per day. We do not use it to identify you personally or to track you across other websites, and we do not store your IP address in clear text for these counters.

Shared conversations

If you press Share and create a link, we store a read-only copy of that conversation on our server: its title, the model style label and the text of the user and assistant messages. The copy is available at a public address (chatg.org/s/ followed by a random code) to anyone who has the link. Shared pages are marked "noindex" so that search engines don't include them in results, but we cannot control what people do with a link once it has been passed on. The copy is kept until it is removed. To request removal, email hello@chatg.org with the link. Please remove personal details from a conversation before you share it.

Contact form and email

When you use the contact form or write to us by email, we receive your name, your email address and your message. We use them only to reply and to handle your request, such as removing a shared link or responding to a copyright notice.

Server logs

Our web servers automatically record basic technical information for each request: IP address, date and time, the page requested, the referring page and your browser's user agent. We use these logs to keep the site secure, diagnose errors and detect abuse, and delete them after a short period.

Advertising by Ezoic

ChatG is free because it shows ads. Advertising on this site is managed by Ezoic Inc. and its advertising partners. They may use cookies, web beacons and similar technologies and collect information such as your IP address, device and browser type, approximate location, pages viewed and interactions with ads, in order to show ads, limit repetition, measure performance and, where permitted, personalize them.

Where the law requires it, for example in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, a consent banner lets you choose whether to allow personalized advertising, and you can change your choice later through the banner's privacy settings. Ads are shown around the site content, never inside the assistant's answers.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, to understand how visitors use ChatG: which pages are visited, how long visits last, which sites refer visitors and what kinds of devices and browsers are used. Google Analytics loads on every page of the site, including the chat, and sets cookies in your browser for this purpose. We use these statistics to improve the site; they do not include the content of your conversations.

Google processes this data under the Google Privacy Policy. You can prevent Google Analytics from collecting data about your visits by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or by blocking cookies or analytics scripts in your browser settings or extensions.

Children

ChatG is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has sent us personal information, for example through the contact form, contact us and we will delete it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict certain processing, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your local data protection authority. Because we don't run accounts or keep chat histories, we usually hold very little information that can be linked to you.

To exercise your rights, for example to request deletion of a shared conversation or of your contact messages, email hello@chatg.org. For advertising choices, use the consent banner where it is shown or the tools offered by Ezoic and its partners.

Data retention

Chat history and settings: in your browser until you delete them; we never receive a copy.
Technical logs of AI requests and server logs: a short period, then deleted.
Daily counters for messages and share links: only as long as needed to apply the daily limits.
Shared conversations: until removed at your request or because they break our Terms of Use.
Contact messages: as long as needed to handle your request.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS, shared conversations are stored in a location that cannot be browsed over the web, and we limit access to logs. No online service is completely secure, so keep sensitive information out of any AI chat.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the site or the law changes. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
