What the Caption Generator does

The Caption Generator writes five different captions for your social media post. Describe the photo or video, the occasion and what you want people to do, and pick the platform and tone. Each option takes a different angle, such as a question, a short story, a call to action or a joke, so you can choose the one that fits your post best or mix lines from several.

Captions are shaped for each platform: catchy first lines for Instagram and TikTok, a more professional voice for LinkedIn, and short captions for X that stay within its character limit. Hashtags and emojis are optional and can be switched off completely.

How to use it

  1. Describe your post in the input box: what the photo or video shows, the occasion, and the reaction or action you want, like comments, visits or sign-ups.
  2. Choose the platform: Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, X (Twitter), Facebook or YouTube Shorts.
  3. Pick a tone: fun, witty, inspiring, heartfelt, professional, or short and minimal.
  4. Decide on hashtags and emojis: both, hashtags only, emojis only, or neither.
  5. Press Generate. You get five numbered captions. Copy the one you like, Regenerate for five more, or Continue in chat to adjust one.

Captions are written in the language of your description.

Tips for better captions

  • Add one specific detail. "First hike of the season with the whole group" gives more to work with than "hiking photo". Details make captions feel personal.
  • Say what you want people to do. Comment, save, visit the link in your bio, come to the shop on Saturday: the call to action shapes the last line.
  • Match the tone to your account. A bakery can be playful; a consulting firm on LinkedIn usually should not be. Consistency builds recognition.
  • Front-load the hook. Platforms cut captions off after the first line or two. Pick an option whose opening works on its own.
  • Edit hashtags for your niche. The generator suggests specific tags, but you know your community. Swap in the ones your audience actually follows.

For bigger campaigns, browse the social media prompts. Small business owners will find more marketing ideas in the guide to AI for small business.

Example

Description: Our small bakery is launching a pumpkin cinnamon roll this weekend, only on Saturdays and Sundays. Platform: Instagram. Tone: fun. Hashtags only.

Two of the five captions:

1. Weekend plans? Ours involve pumpkin, cinnamon and a lot of butter. Our new pumpkin cinnamon roll is here, Saturdays and Sundays only. #pumpkinseason #cinnamonrolls #weekendtreat #localbakery

3. Tell us in the comments: pumpkin spice, yes or no? Our answer comes warm out of the oven this weekend. #pumpkinspice #freshbaked #bakerylove #shoplocal

Limits and honest use

  • No invented claims. The generator is instructed not to add facts, prices or promises you did not give. Check every caption anyway, especially offers, dates and health claims.
  • Disclose partnerships. If a post is sponsored or you received a product for free, add the disclosure your platform and local rules require.
  • Respect others. Get permission before tagging or describing people in your photos, and do not use captions to mislead or impersonate.
  • Check platform rules. Character limits and hashtag practices change. Glance at the platform's current guidance if a post is important.
  • Make it yours. Your audience follows you for your voice. Tweak a word or two so the caption sounds like you.

FAQ

Is the Caption Generator free?

Yes, with no sign-up. Every visitor gets a daily allowance of free messages, shared between the chat and all tools, which resets every day.

Can it see my photo?

No. It works from your description, so describe what is in the picture, the mood and the occasion. The more specific you are, the better the captions.

How many hashtags does it add?

When hashtags are on, it adds a small set of specific, relevant tags to each caption, usually between three and eight, rather than long lists of generic ones.

Can I get captions for several platforms at once?

Generate once per platform so each set fits its style and length. Or Continue in chat and ask it to adapt your favorite caption for other platforms.

Can I get more than five ideas?

Yes. Press Regenerate for a fresh set, or ask the chat for ten caption ideas and a list of hashtags.
