AI Paraphrasing Tool
Paste a sentence or paragraph and get it back in new words, with the same meaning. Pick a style and up to three versions to compare.
What the Paraphraser does
The Paraphraser rewrites your text in different words while keeping what it means. Facts, names and numbers stay the same; sentence structure and vocabulary change. It is useful when a sentence sounds clumsy, when you repeat yourself, when a text is too stiff or too casual for its reader, or when you need to say something in fewer words.
You choose a style, and you can ask for up to three versions at once to compare. Pick the one that sounds most like you, or combine the best parts.
How to use it
- Paste your text into the input box: a sentence, a paragraph or a few paragraphs.
- Choose a style:
- Standard – same meaning, fresh wording, similar length.
- Fluent – smoother and more natural, with awkward phrasing fixed.
- Formal – polished wording for work or academic writing.
- Simple – plain words and short sentences that anyone can follow.
- Creative – livelier, more varied language.
- Shorter – the same message in noticeably fewer words.
- Select how many versions you want: one, two or three.
- Press Generate. Copy the version you like, Regenerate for new options, or Continue in chat to fine-tune a single sentence.
The result comes back in the language of your text. Paste German and you get German.
Tips for better results
- Work in chunks. One or two paragraphs at a time give you more control than a whole document, and you can check each part properly.
- Match the style to the reader. Use Simple for customers and general audiences, Formal for reports and applications, Fluent for your own drafts that just need smoothing.
- Use Shorter for limits. Character counts on forms, ads and social posts are easier to hit when you start from a shorter rewrite.
- Keep technical terms. If a word must not change, such as a product name or a legal term, mention it at the top of your text, for example "Keep the term 'net income'".
- Compare versions. Ask for three versions when the wording matters. Often one sentence from each makes the best result.
Example
| Style | Text |
|---|---|
| Original | Due to the fact that the meeting ran late, we were not able to finish going over all of the items on the agenda. |
| Standard | Because the meeting ran over time, we could not get through every item on the agenda. |
| Shorter | The meeting ran late, so we did not cover the whole agenda. |
| Formal | As the meeting exceeded its scheduled time, several agenda items could not be addressed. |
Limits and honest use
A paraphrase changes the words, not the ownership of the ideas. Please use the tool responsibly:
- Credit your sources. If the original ideas come from someone else, rewording them does not make them yours. Quote or cite the source as your school or publisher requires.
- Follow academic rules. Many schools treat passing off reworded text as your own work as plagiarism, and some restrict AI tools entirely. Our guide on AI for students explains how to use AI in ways teachers usually accept.
- Check the meaning. Rewrites are usually accurate, but a changed word can shift a nuance. Read the result against the original, especially for contracts, instructions or medical and financial information.
- Keep your voice. Paraphrasing every sentence can make a text sound generic. Use it where your writing needs help, not everywhere.
FAQ
Is the Paraphraser free?
Yes, and you do not need an account. Every visitor gets a daily allowance of free messages that covers the chat and all tool pages, and it resets every day.
Does paraphrasing avoid plagiarism?
Not by itself. Plagiarism is about using someone else's ideas or words without credit, and rewording does not change that. Cite your sources, and use the tool to improve your own writing.
Will it change the meaning of my text?
The tool is instructed to keep the meaning, facts, names and numbers and not to add anything new. It is still an AI, so always read the result and correct anything that has shifted.
Which languages does it support?
It works in English and many other languages. The rewrite is in the same language as the text you paste. To change language, use the Translator instead.
How long can my text be?
The input box accepts several thousand characters, enough for a page or two. For longer documents, paraphrase section by section; the results will be better too.
Can I adjust one sentence after generating?
Yes. Click Continue in chat and ask, for example, "Make the second sentence warmer" or "Use a simpler word than 'exceeded'". You can also start a paraphrasing chat directly.
